Frequently Asked Questions

How do I renew a script without seeing the doctor?
Some scripts will always require a consult with the doctor (in-particular Benzodiazepines, Antibiotics and opioid pain-relief like Codeine). However, if you take an unrestricted medication regularly, you can make an online request for repeat prescriptions. Online requests are reviewed by the doctors and issued as an e-script if approved. Allowing you to access your new script without setting foot inside the practice.
Get started with online script requests today. Click the “Request Repeat Script” at the top of the page. No sign-up required.
*Terms and conditions apply. New patients will need a consult with a doctor, and may require investigation of medical records or new examinations prior to receiving a script.
Can I get a medical certificate for yesterday?
The short answer is no.
Medical certificates are dated the day of your consult and may include future days if your GP considers this clinically relevant. However, a medical certificate cannot and will not be backdated to cover previous days. To issue a false, misleading or inaccurate certificate would compromise our doctors ethical and legal duties, and possibly expose them to disciplinary action under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law. Therefore, they will not write a certificate when they have not witnessed the patient’s condition on those days.
You can learn more about the guidelines and regulations relating to medical certificates from:
Australian Medical Association (AMA)
Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority(AHPRA)
Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP)
Do I need a follow-up appointment or will the doctor call me with the results?
Yes, you need a consult.
Results are only given via consult. So you will need to book an appointment if you want to receive the information.
You can book ahead to secure a suitable time or you can wait to see if your doctor recalls you to discuss the result. If you are recalled, we will send a SMS message advising you to book an appointment if you haven’t booked yet.
Did I have to call the specialist because I haven't heard from them and it's been over a week.
Generally, no.
We send a copy of all referrals to the specialist we are referring to. This allows the specialist to triage each case and determine how soon the patient needs to be seen. So, you will generally hear from them within a week or two once they have had time to review all of their referrals.
Public hospital referrals may take even longer to contact you due to high volumes and low availability.
If you are concerned about how long it is taking to be contacted, please call us.
