Frequently asked patient questions
Do your practices bulk bill?
Billing policies and consultation fees are determined by the individual practitioners consulting at our practices. Currently, all of the practitioners consulting from our practices privately-bill for their services. The fees charged by each doctor vary, as do their bulk billing terms. Contact your local practice for an indication of the fees charged by the doctors we support there.
Are you taking new patients?
Most of the practitioners consulting at our practices do welcome new patients. This is subject to change at the doctor’s discretion. You can confirm a practitioner’s new patient policy by contacting the local practice.
If you do book an appointment as a new patient it is recommended that you arrange for the transfer of your medical records in order to make the most of your first appointment with your doctor. Your local practice can assist you with arranging a transfer at any time.
How do I transfer my medical record?
If you need to transfer your medical record to your new doctor at one of our practices, the local practice staff can help. Simply sign our practice “Release of Information” form. We will then coordinate the transfer with your former doctor/practice on your behalf.
If you need to transfer your medical record to another doctor, a release of information authority needs to be received. Following receipt of a release authority your doctor will make arrangements to process the request and send your records to the new practitioner.
Why can't I book vaccinations online?
Vaccination/immunisation bookings are complex because they depend on product availability. Your doctor may also utilise our nursing support services, which must be booked separately over the phone. So, it is easier to ensure the booking is made correctly, and stock is reserved for you, when you book vaccinations over the phone.
Please call your local Family Practice Medical Centre the next time you need to book a vaccination/immunisation appointment.
